eLearning Training ProgramsWhen educators are asked to design, develop, and teach an online course, many institutions offer skills-based training so they can learn how to use the LMS (Learning Management System). In this type of training, educators learn how to use the tools within the LMS. What is often missing is training to help educators learn the principles of designing and developing online courses. Without this type of training, courses are often poorly designed and may need to be redesigned, which is inefficient both in terms of time and cost. The training program Dr. Delich offers fills in this missing gap: the focus of the trainings is how to design online courses to maximize student engagement and ease of use. The training approach provides tools so that educators can work more efficiently. This has saved them time during course development. The programs can be offered online and in-person, and have an individualized component to meet the needs of each participant. The online component of the training is offered in your LMS. The training focuses on the pedagogy of online teaching and learning, and the visual and instructional design of courses. It is not a course on how to use an LMS but questions on how to best optimize the LMS for teaching and learning are addressed. Dr. Delich has guided educators in the use of online educational technologies for more than 17 years working with hundreds of educators throughout California and the U.S., and around the world. Working side by side with teachers through the process of online course development, she has gained insights into the common pitfalls, problems, and needs teachers have while designing and developing online courses. Dr. Delich brings a variety of perspectives to the training. In addition to helping hundreds of educators design and develop online courses, she has also administered online training programs, taught online and hybrid courses, and has been an online student.
